The Massachusetts Paid Leave Coalition (MPLC) is coordinated by Greater Boston Legal Services in collaboration with the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action, New England United for Justice and The National
Association of Social Workers, MA Chapter. The MPLC includes over 80 state and local advocates, community organizations, labor unions, businesses, policy makers, doctors, researchers, policy, and data experts working together to educate the public and policymakers about the critical need for access to paid leave for all workers. The goal of our campaign for seven paid sick days is to help low-wage workers stay employed, build assets, and enhance the well-being of their families.
The MPLC traces its roots to the work of the former Women's Statewide Legislative Network (WSLN), a grassroots organization founded by former welfare recipients. The MPLC initiated its paid sick days campaign to continue WSLN's commitment to systemic policy changes that improve the work-family balance for workers in low-wage jobs.
The MPLC is a founding member of Family Values@Work, a multi-state consortium of fifteen state coalitions working to together to promote economic security, family leave insurance and other policies that value families at work.
